K1 returns to TV2 next week as the Kings of Oceania tournament begins in Auckland at the Trusts Stadium on July 30.
Twelve of New Zealand and Australia's top fighters will compete for a place at the Oceania World Grand Prix in Auckland next March.
The winner of that tournament will then be just one step away from a place in the World Grand Prix final to be held in Tokyo, Japan in November 2006.
New Zealand will be represented by Ron Sefo, Peter Sampson, Jason Suttie, Pola Mataele, Daniel Tai, Andrew Peck and Sydney Asiata in the Auckland round of the tournament.
The fighters have been placed in three pools and will compete in three fights in Auckland, Brisbane and Adelaide with the winner of each pool then moving onto the Oceania World Grand Prix.
The winner of each pool will be decided by a points table with two points for the winner, none for the loser, with an extra bonus point available for a KO.
Each bout will last three rounds, with two extension rounds if needed to determine a winner.
The Australian fighters involved are Peter Graham, Chris Chrisopoulides, Paul Slowinski, Ricardo Van Bos and Matt Samoa.
