Around 2,000 speedway supporters marched to Auckland's Western Springs Stadium to protest against noise restrictions that have suspended racing.
Friday's meeting between the Auckland City Council, local residents, and speedway supporters made little headway with supporters saying a limit of 85 decibels is unworkable.
On Saturday, hundreds braved bad weather to protest against an Environment Court ruling forcing the speedway to comply with the noise limit. Fans and supporters want to find some compromise to keep the 75-year-old Speedway up and running.
The Speedway has exceeded the noise limit for several years and says it's impossible to operate within its legal range.
Unhappy at the constant breaching of that limit, more than 70 local residents signed a petition that led to the ruling from the Environment Court.
Residents who signed the petition say the council assured them it would remain confidential but their signatures were shown on Close Up at 7.
Residents who have been harassed are now even more fearful and say they have received threatening phone calls, letters and notes .
