Max Bania is a ONE News reporter based in Dunedin.
His love affair with Dunedin began as a fresh-faced teenager at Otago University. Now considerably less fresh-faced, he returned to his adopted home town in October 2011 to replace 44-year veteran John McDermott in the TVNZ bureau.
In between, Max completed an MA in Media, Film and Communication and went on an OE before starting work as a junior reporter in the Auckland newsroom in January 2009. He's also enjoyed stints on Breakfast in Christchurch and Sport in Wellington.
When hes not waxing lyrical about the deep south, Max is a regular contributor of opinion pieces to tvnz.co.nz and won a Qantas award in June 2009 as part of the online sport team.
Max says the best part about the job is going out and hearing the stories of the locals, most of whom are nice to him even though he's a Jafa.
