Mitre 10 DIY Rescue
This show is off-air
Mitre 10 DIY Rescue is back on the road rescuing the wives of hammer-happy husbands from their own DIY disaster zones.
This year, a new crop of builders is taking on New Zealand's building catastrophes. The Mitre 10 DIY Rescue boys are a talented team determined to educate New Zealand husbands on how to perform DIY in style.
Heading up the team is Stan, the project manager and chief organiser who was previously seen on the TV2 show, 'The Fence'. During his 18 year career as a carpenter, Stan has worked on new homes and renovations. Stan has integrated his passion for art into his vocation and often uses old materials to create new pieces. One man's trash is certainly Stan's treasure.
Stan has recruited four other builders to form the Mitre 10 DIY Rescue team: the sensitive Doug; the lippy Aussie Damon; Greg the bloke and Sam, the apprentice who doesn't always get it right. The crew will offer building tips, from knocking out walls and building decks to paving courtyards and sowing lawns. Most of all, the boys will teach Kiwis how to finish the job without the botch-ups.
"These guys are talented and more determined than ever to clue up the DIY disastrous hubbies of New Zealand," says producer Emma White. "With the expertise and support of the four builders, the DIY makeover unfolds as an often-funny showcase of 'how to get it right with DIY'.
Each week, the Mitre 10 DIY Rescue team and the homeowners have just four days and a limited budget to break out the paint rollers and power tools to complete the renovation of a lifetime. During each episode, the team will revamp tired interiors and transform the outdoors. While the boys work their magic, the long-suffering wife will reveal why she's put up with DIY catastrophes for most of her marriage. The couples will candidly discuss what keeps then together despite their 'creative' differences!
