TVNZ 7 LEARNING HUB GOES LIVE
Today TVNZ 7 launches the TVNZ 7 Learning Hub, a website offering quality education resources based on popular TVNZ 7 programmes.
With material to suit the New Zealand curriculum across a range of subject areas and associated video content, the TVNZ 7 Learning Hub will be a valuable resource for teachers, students and parents.
The education resources will provide further context to study areas and include suggested learning activities, and although primarily designed to suit students in Years 7 to 9, can easily be adapted to suit older or younger year levels. The resources have been created by TVNZ 7 in partnership with other organisations.
"TVNZ 7 is proud to be working with our partners to extend the value of these wonderful local programmes and to provide a service offering fit-for-purpose resources for NZ classrooms," says TVNZ 7 Channel Manager Philippa Mossman.
The TVNZ 7 Learning Hub is launched this evening at a special event at Te Papa, officially opened by the Honourable Anne Tolley, Minister of Education. The launch of TVNZ 7 Learning Hub is timed to coincide with the launch of the latest set of education resources to be created - resources for the Tales From Te Papa series. A collaboration between TVNZ 7, Te Papa and Vero, the Tales From Te Papa education resources feature 100 episodes of this series of mini-documentaries created to showcase some of the many unique and important pieces that the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa holds in trust for the nation. The episodes relate to the subject areas of English, the Arts, Health and Physical Education, Science and Social Sciences.
The TVNZ 7 Learning Hub will also house resources for the Meet The Locals series already created in collaboration with the Department of Conservation, and Ever Wondered? and Science Made Simple resources produced in partnership with The Ministry of Science and Innovation and the Science Learning Hub at the University of Waikato.
The Meet The Locals resources are based on the series of four-minute mini-documentaries highlighting the inspiring work of local communities, individuals and DOC staff as they strive to protect and enhance New Zealand's natural heritage. Included are units with a focus on our unique reptiles, insects, birds and sand dune environments, for example.
Ever Wondered? and Science Made Simple resources offer the opportunity to learn more about the areas of science covered in these series. The Ever Wondered? series features the work of Kiwi scientists and their high-tech and hair-raising experiments, while Science Made Simple explores words and phrases from the fields of physics, information technology, engineering and social sciences,..
