ALMOST HALF A MILLION TUNE IN FOR VETERAN NEWS READS
The four former network news presenters who returned to television
to read a morning news bulletin each on Thursday attracted one of
the largest Breakfast audiences this year.
435,500 viewers tuned into Breakfast to see Dougal Stevenson,
Jennie Goodwin, David Beatson and Lindsay Perigo back on screen to
mark the 40th anniversary of network news.
Viewers inundated the programme with hundreds of texts and emails
that showed what enormous affection viewers still have for our
pioneer news presenters (see below*).

Yeah, bring back Dougal, how lovely it was to see him reading the news this morning - a truly distinguished gentleman.
Wow, this morning is wonderful!
The voice, the demeanour, the dignity, the accent, the delivery, even the spectacles! And you feel you would believe absolutely anything he said to you. You guys should re-hire him. Pay him whatever he asks.
What an awesome idea to have the old news presenters reading today's news. I love that they still have it, and didn't crack under the pressure of using modern technology.
