A 37-year-old pastor has pleaded not guilty to a charge of manslaughter following the death of a Korean woman in Auckland last December.

The woman died at a Mount Roskill house where it is claimed members of a religious group were performing an exorcism to cast out demons they believed were possessing her.

Yong Lee, who is also known as Luke Lee, appeared in the Auckland District Court this morning and has been remanded in custody until his depositions hearing in mid August.

The dead woman's name has not yet been released as police are having difficulties contacting her next of kin in Korea.
