Lock your doors - because the geeks are coming.

Labour Weekend 2009 is shaping up to be a busy one for fans of the Armageddon Expo in Auckland.

The annual event's making a return to the city but is, according to the organisers, teleporting to a new venue - after being at the Aotea Centre in Auckland for the past few years.

This year's Armageddon Expo is going to be at the ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane where those in charge say it will pack the huge, five-hall space with more events, contests and gaming than ever before.

Event organiser Bill Geradts says, "Armageddon has been growing in popularity and reach every year, and the new venue will allow us to pack even more into the three days and appeal to a wider audience. There are also great surrounding events this year like the exclusive cocktail party with Armageddon celebrity guests, VIP dinners, and for the first time amusement park rides and a glittering Masquerade Ball" says Bill. "The bigger venue has meant we can turn Armageddon into a truly huge and memorable event for 2009."

The October expo brings some of the biggest names in Hollywood to New Zealand, and gives fans the chance to meet and greet famous move stars and voice actors.

The 2009 line up includes headliners like Seth Green; voice actor in Robot Chicken & Family Guy, Noah Grey-Gabey from Heroes and TV2 comedy My Wife and Kids , as well as the ever entertaining Michael Winslow; the famous voice from Police Academy.

But that's not all - stars from Stargate: Atlantis; Joe Flanigan, Jason Momoa, and Paul McGillion will be here as well as Twilight New Moon (visit our Twilight site here)  actor Bronson Pelletier - just a few weeks before his onscreen debut in the phenomenal franchise is made public.

However, it's not just the film and TV stars which sees punters flocking to the event year after year.

With a collection of pulp culture to drool over, Armageddon visitors will be able to buy sketches personally drawn from the some of the world's top comic writers and illustrators in the Comics, Sci Fi, Fantasy & Cards section of the event.

Guests include comic writers like DC Comic artist Nicola Scott, Whiteout writer Greg Rucka, and novelist Peter David. There are comics panels, the GamePlayer Tournament Hall, and The Green Lantern movie will be screening, introduced by esteemed comic writer Geoff Johns.

Anime, Manga and Cartoon fans will love the chance to meet Laura Bailey, voice actor on Dragonball Z, Dante Basco "Rufio" from Hook, Greg Cipes, voice of Beast Boy in the Teen Titans animated series, and Olivia Hack voice actor on Avatar and Bratz. There's also a Madman DVD Sale, huge Animation and Asian Cinema screening rooms, and loads of cosplay and animation contests to enter.

Also patrolling the ASB showgrounds will be the infamous Steve Downes, voice of Halo's Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 in the Gaming and Technology area, and there's chance to flex your gaming skills with the Gameplayer Console LAN Tournament where electronic gaming will be happening en masse all day, as well as the huge Playstation gaming area.

Hit artist Savage will be performing throughout the three days as well other rockin' kiwi bands, The Rocket Jocks and Crash Test For My Favourite Things. For those that love a bit of biffo the hardcore wrestlers from Impact Pro Wrestling are showcasing their latest wrestling moves, grudge matches and challenges live for Armageddon visitors. And the fierce roller derby girls from the Pirate City Rollers will be skating and bruising their way around the track demonstrating this feisty, all female sport.
