Scott Dixon endured a difficult day in the the latest round
of the Indy Car series in California on Monday.
After starting on the fifth row of the grid back in 10th place,
Dixon was involved in a first lap crash with Tony Kanaan which saw
him slip towards the back of the field.
He worked his way back through the field to get up to ninth place
before being involved in another collision which on the very last
lap.
Dixon eventually crossed the line in 14th place and as result
has relinquished the overall IRL series lead.
Dixon's Chip Ganassi team mate Dario Franchitti won the race with
Ryan Briscoe taking second.
Briscoe is now the overall championship leader, four points
ahead of Franchitti.
Dixon trails Briscoe by 21 points with three races remaining in the
series.
The series continues next weekend under lights at Chicagoland
Speedway.
