Series finale. Follow the unsung heroes of Auckland's Westpac Rescue Helicopters as they battle to save lives in a race against time and pull off some of the most dangerous and thrilling rescues ever shot in New Zealand.
About the show
Rescue 1, is a fast-paced factual observational programme
that follows the unsung heroes of Auckland's Westpac Helicopters as
they struggle to save lives in a relentless race against time. The
third series will once again put viewers in the chopper's front
seat and take them on some of the most daring and heart-wrenching
rescues the country has ever seen.
The high-rating programme has not only been a hit with viewers. Rescue 1 received the ultimate accolade when it won a 2009 QANTAS Award for Best Observational Reality Series.
Once again, the series will feature an incredible variety of
stories - from dramatic boat, motorcycle and car smashes...
traumatic head and spinal injuries, near drownings, animal
attacks... spectacular search and rescue missions - to families'
worst nightmares; concussion, heart and asthma attacks, allergic
reactions, infections, pregnancy complications and accidental
poisoning. Plus, this series features some of the most amazing
- and almost unbelievable - lucky escapes that viewers
are ever likely to see.
This series features added drama with the addition of a second
chopper, based at the Coromandel town of Whitianga. Filmed through
the height of the busy summer season, our larger-than-life crews
race across the skies on missions that are often improbable,
sometimes apparently impossible, and for anyone else totally
unfeasible & but for the viewer, always enjoyable.
