Hawke's Bay iwi are delighted with the Environment Court's decision to reject Unison's application to build a windfarm on a sacred Maori site.
The Hastings-based lines company was hoping to build a 34 turbine windfarm on the Te Waka range.
The application has been turned-down for the third time after iwi groups successfully fought to have the sacred site protected.
Maungaharuru-Tangitu spokeswoman Tania Hopmans says it's taken five years and close to half-a-million dollars has been spent fighting the case in court.
