It looks like the warring women have snatched it away from the di Caprio/ Winslet reunion.
Bride Wars is currently the top film in the New Zealand box office by a comfortable $36,000 margin over the much acclaimed Sam Mendes' film, Revolutionary Road.
Its victory over Revolutionary Road may be a surprise to some; but given how the di Caprio/ Winslet reunion film covered a lot of dark ground, it's no wonder more people have been giving Bride Wars their hard earned cash during the recession.
Talking of recession, so far this year, the box office tally in general is a little down compared to this time last year - it's interesting to see whether that trend continues as the year goes on and the credit crunch continues.
Although some would argue, you're always going to need to escape from the realities of life - and that's where the cinema wins.
Returning back to the chart, Bride Wars and Revolutionary Road were the only new entries into the top 10 which saw most of the post Christmas main stayers simply swap places.
And as the Oscar nominations were announced this week, you can expect to see some of the films nominated for glory (eg Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Revolutionary Road) picking up some extra bums on seats in the coming weeks.
Next week sees the return of Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino (which has done wonders in the US Box office) Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott teaming up in comedy Role Models and doco Man On Wire about a French tightrope walker crossing the gap between the Twin Towers back in the 70s.
