A climber has died on Mount Aspiring near Queenstown.
The 34-year-old Christchurch man was climbing with his wife in an area known as the Cascade Saddle when the accident happened.
Police say he fell about 40 metres and died at the scene.
His death comes just a day after four climbers lost their lives in an avalanche on Mt Tasman.
