After almost 40 years in politics, Prime Minister Helen Clark says there is no other focus in her life.
With less than a week to the election, she is seeking a historic fourth term as Prime Minister, something only previously achieved by Sir Keith Holyoake and William Massey. She would do so against the odds, beating the predictions of pundits, bloggers, and water-cooler conversations nationwide.
Speaking on TVNZ's Agenda programme on Sunday, Clark said she has no plans outside politics whatsoever, putting paid to rumours she would resign if Labour forms the next government.
Clark maintains she has a lot to offer voters compared to her opponents, and continued to discuss policy plans in the interview.
She announced that more of the government's spending plans are to be brought forward, to mitigate the economic downturn.
She says the thrust of the package will be to give extra support to local government bodies for roading and infrastructure projects, and that rather than constituting more spending still, it will mean bringing forward projects which were to be done anyway.
