Cyclist injured during race

A cyclist has been badly hurt after being hit by a van during a race on the Coromandel.

The incident happened on State Highway 25, not far from Simpsons Beach.

The cyclist has been airlifted to Auckland Hospital with serious injuries.

Police are looking for a white Nissan Navarra double cab utility which was travelling north on SH25 at the time.
