Labour says it likes one of the National Party's health policies - but says it's one that is already in place.
John Key has revealed an initiative which will see several hundred doctors, nurses and midwives who work for the first three years in a hard-to-staff part of New Zealand, have up to $30,000 written off their student loan.
Tertiary Education Minister Pete Hodgson says it is a great targeted approach - that isn't new.
He says there are already bonded scholarships and an ability for DHBs to pay new doctors more.
Hodgson says the only thing they don't have is time to pass to see the initiatives work - given medical degrees take an average of six years to complete.
