The NBA franchise that relocated to Oklahoma City from Seattle has unveiled its new nickname as the 'Thunder'.
The club has been without a nickname since July when team Chairman Clay Bennett announced that the Seattle SuperSonics would be moving to Oklahoma City.
"This is an exciting day for the franchise," General Manager Sam Presti said in a statement.
"The people of Oklahoma have supported us throughout this entire transition.
"This is their team and we feel fortunate to represent this community."
Bennett said club officials received hundreds of ideas before settling on the Thunder.
