Taito Phillip Field says he wants to repeal some of the Labour Party's "ungodly laws".

The Mangere MP will officially launch his new Pacific Party on Saturday night in South Auckland.

Field says legalising prostitution was a mistake, and the so-called "anti-smacking" law needs to go.

As well, he wants Parliament to take another look at civil unions.

Field says there are other policies which will be announced at the launch event, which he says will support a growing economy and full employment.

He says the Pacific Party has been founded around Christian and family values.

Field is confident he will get back into Parliament, even though he faces 37 criminal charges.

The ex-Labour MP is accused of bribery, corruption and trying to obstruct or pervert the course of justice.

Field continues to maintain his innocence, and says no court has yet found him guilty of any wrongdoing.

He believes he has enough support to hold onto the seat, and claims the Pacific Party has 3,000 members.
