The National Party is backing calls for a review into the way rest homes are audited.
Health Ministher David Cunliffe is believed to have ordered a
review into whether rest home audits should be made public after
instances of alleged neglect and abuse last month.
National's associate Health Spokeswoman Jo Goodhew is calling for
spot audits and is calling for them to be made public.
She says families considering a rest home should be able to get an indication about the standard of care from an audit.
The Prime Minister has also supported the idea, but she says she is astounded it's been suggested by National.
She says the suggestions comes from a party that constantly moans about the size of bureaucracy.
