It has been revealed the Auckland rest home under fire for gagging one of its residents had investigated a similar incident a year earlier.
Belhaven Rest Home launched its own investigation after complaints a 70-year-old man was locked outside in the middle of the night for being too loud.
The case was reported to the Ministry of health when it stepped in to investigate Belhaven's management.
A former Belhaven worker has been charged with assault over the gagging incident and will appear in court this week.
