Euro 2008 golden boot star, David Villa, is on Liverpool's wish list and two rather large Rottweiler's interrupt Aston Villa training as the gossip season continues on tvnz.co.nz

Benitez targets Villa

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez admitted on Wednesday that Spain star David Villa is on his list of potential striker recruits when Peter Crouch moves to Portsmouth. (BBC Sport)

But Benitez still has his eye on Tottenham striker Robbie Keane as an 18 million pound possible replacement. It has been reported that Keane would be happy to join Liverpool, the club he supported as a boy. (Daily Post)

Meanwhile, Liverpool have made their fourth signing of the summer with Hungarian Zsolt Poloskei on a season long loan. The 17-year-old joins Andrea Dossena, Philip Degen and Niko Saric on the Reds' list of new signings. (Football Corner)

Crouch is fit

Liverpool striker Peter Crouch passed his medical at Portsmouth on Wednesday and is expected to make an 11 million pound move to the club on Thursday. (Various)

Aragones gets Guiza

Euro 2008 winner Daniel Guiza will get the chance to play under former Spain coach Luis Aragones after Fenerbahce signed the striker from Real Mallorca in a four-year deal on Wednesday. (Reuters)

Scolari keen to keep Lamps and Drogba

After officially taking over as Chelsea boss on Wednesday, Luis Felipe Scolari insisted that the club have rejected an offer from Inter Milan for Frank Lampard and despite increasing speculation, the midfielder has told his new boss he wants to stay with the Blues.

Although 24million rated Didier Drogba has been linked with AC Milan and more recently Barcelona, Scolari also hinted that the Ivorian International is 200% part of his plans at Stamford Bridge. (BBC Sport)   

While Scolari wants to keep hold of Lamps and Drogba, it has been reported Big Phil will allow Andriy Shevchenko, Florent Malouda, Claudio Pizarro, Steve Sidwell and Carlo Cudicini to leave the club. (Daily Mirror)

Everton may sell Johnson

Everton may cash in on Andy Johnson to boost transfer funds if the price is right.

Wigan is said to be interested in the striker but Everton sources say it will take a bid of over 10m to convince the club to sell. (Independent)

Roy Keane's Sunderland are said to be preparing a bid to match the asking price. (Daily Mail)

Everton are also said to be interested in Manchester United's Darren Fletcher. Everton boss David Moyes has apparently told the Scottish international his talents are being wasted on the bench at Old Trafford.  (Times Online) 

Bolton in Vukcevic chase

Bolton Wanders want to sign 5m rated Sporting Lisbon forward Simon Vukcevic.  With 11m Sweden striker Johan Elmander in the bag, Bolton is vying with Blackburn to land 22-year-old Vukcevic. (Daily Mail)

O'Neil may sell Barry after all

Martin O'Neil is considering accepting Liverpool's ý15m bid for Gareth Barry now that Irish international Steve Finnan has been offered in the deal. (The Times)

O'Neil is said to be making a 5 million bid for Steve Sidwell as a possible replacement for Barry, but Newcastle are also said to be interested. (Various)
