Kiwi rider Julian Dean is back on track to be a serious sprint
contender after stage three of the Tour de France and a much better
finish
Dean crashed on the second stage but finished near the front of the
main peleton in 19th place on Tuesday morning.
He said he was much relieved once he woke up feeling no ill effects from his crash.
His Garmin Chipotle teammate American William Frischkom finished second behind the stage winner Frenchman Samuel Dumoulin.
Dean said the duo were part of a four man breakaway right at the start of the stage.
He said some of the teams were hoping to bring it back but they were not able to chase the breakaway down.
There is also a new Tour leader with Frenchman Romain Feillu taking over from Spaniard Alejandro Valverde.
Tuesday night's fourth stage is an individual time trial.
