Name suppression has been lifted on the 17-year-old charged with the armed robbery in connection to the death of south Auckland bottle shop owner Navtej Singh.
On Saturday June 2, 30-year-old Singh was shot after being confronted by a group of men with a .22 calibre rifle demanding money.
Along with two others, Walter McCarthy, a Manurewa resident,
faces a charge of accessory to murder.
Four others are charged with 30-year-old Singh's murder.
Meanwhile, south Auckland's Sikh community is planning to lay a
formal complaint against police over their response to the liquor
store robbery.
This follows the police action in delaying ambulance staff from
going in to help Singh for more than half an hour after the
shooting.
Manurewa MP George Hawkins is helping the Indian leaders draft the
complaint.
Hawkins says he asked police months ago to survey Manurewa business
owners about how safe they felt in their shops.
The police say they will now carry out the surveys and as a result
hope to run crime prevention seminars.
