Two brothers and a 17-year-old have appeared in court charged with the shooting of south Auckland liquor store owner Navtej Singh.

News of the arrest came just hours before friends and family prepared to say goodbye to Singh, who was killed in an armed robbery in Manurewa.

Tino Felise, 17, and 20 year old Anitelea Chan Kee both face charges of murder, aggravated robbery and a firearms charge.

They have been remanded in custody for a pre-depositions hearing in August.

The third man charged in relation to the shooting is 24-year-old Mefiposeta Chan Kee, the brother of Anitelea Chan Kee. He is charged with accessory to murder as well as disposing of evidence. Police say he disposed of the gun and the cardboard packaging the stolen alcohol came in.

The three accused were arrested by police, assisted by the Armed Offenders Squad, after a number of search warrants were executed in relation to the case. None of the men lived in the Randwick Park area that police had been focussing their search on.

Despite the arrests the police investigation into Singh's death is far from over.

Police are still looking for two other men who they believe acted alongside Felise and Anitelea Chan Kee and on Thursday afternoon police recovered parts the rifle believed to have been used to kill Singh.

Operation head Detective Inspector Jim Gallagher says evidence that is important to the case has been recovered, including ammunition and clothing  believed to have been worn during the fatal robbery.

"We're still speaking to people who we believe are of assistance to the inquiry.

"We're interested in hearing from people who know the offenders who have been charged to date ... and who have had contact with them since last Saturday night," says Gallagher.

Police had been looking for a black Mazda Astina hatchback which they located on Thursday. They are still interested in a second vehicle - a white 4 x 4 - that was seen near the scene of the crime at about the time of the attack.

People with information should call Operation Riverton on 0508 Riverton - 0508 748 378.
