After the breath-taking win by Scott Dixon in the Indianapolis 500 on Monday we bring you all the latest news and final thoughts from our dynamic pair of journeymen in the field Robert Rakete and Bob McMurray.
Bob says
Read this in reverse please.
Rob has said pretty much all I wanted to say so read his bit first.
No real funnies now, not even a photo of a concrete mixer that I have been looking for all week.
We have had a good time up here and hopefully we managed to achieve a good and informative show for you, our audience.
I am not going to get carried away with the emotion of it all, for Scott's win was very emotional for us all, for we were here to work and this year it WAS work.
Having said that, I would welcome the work, and more, every time
Scott wins the Indy 500. I'm just glad he only has the chance to
win the thing once a year!
Thanks to all.
Giving thanks
The people who BBQ'd for us, cared for us at the track, arranged
the interviews for us against the might of ESPN, ABC, NBC and the
giants of US broadcasting, made sure that
'lil ole "Noo Zeelun" was front and centre for Scott access,
greeted us with a smile when we arrived somewhere proudly wearing
the silver fern as our own badge of courage, opened up the WFYI TV
(thanks Cedric) station at unsociable hours so that our producer,
David Turner, could get satellite time to try and beam back the
footage and try to satiate the ever hungry beast that is TVNZ news,
Close Up, TV7 or whatever, Ron Green, John Griffith, Amy, Tim, Barb
and Colleen, Tina, the big (and I mean BIG) guy responsible for
refuelling us in the media centre and all the others, equally
important but too numerous to name, who go out of their way to help
us and made it possible for us to be front and centre for one of
the most important and historic days in New Zealand motorsport and
I believe in New Zealand sport in general.
Thanks to all of them.
The photo of the day, as I write this at way past midnight on Monday night, is an enduring one of all the Ganassi team backsides pointed to the skies as they kiss the yard of bricks in celebration of Scott's great win.

Rob says:
Can't sleep?
Then you could have joined me last night as I lay in bed, amped, watching the infomercials on channel 1 on the hotel tele and learning more about a healthy colon than I thought I would ever need to know.
Wow what a day!
Amazing and a real moment in history!
Y'see today we popped out to the Indy suburb of Keystone where the team collectively propped up the flailing American economy by visiting various shops at the mall&family and friends will be pleased......
&oh by the way&
.....did I mention that yesterday.....Scott Dixon won the Indy 500!!!
If the emails, texts and phone calls were anything to go by the rest of New Zealand knew about it!
What a fantastic day, and to be there when history was made was indeed a real privilege and honour!
Thanks to TVNZ for pulling out their eft-pos card and covering the trip. But not only this one - the last 5 trips over the last 5 years that Powerbuilt Tools Motorsport have made to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to follow Scott's journey from newbie to Indy 500 Champion.
During the race we were told that we had a one on one with Scott if he won - and I was thinking 'Eh?!'
Normally ESPN, ABC and the networks get the face to face but we have to hustle to get to Scott - thankfully he has always looked for us and come to our microphone first. But if he wins I was guessing we would be at the back of the room like I was at my school ball waiting for someone to pick me.
Coolest moment
But after Scott kissed the famous yard of bricks the first team they took him too was us. Now I'm not a journalist - and I'm not a New Zealand motorsport insider - I'm just a motorsport fan who happens to be a TV presenter and that was one of the coolest moments in my life, standing next to Scott, seeing the pure joy in his face, and sharing that with everyone back home who watches our show.
The best bit? Ron and Glenys, Scott's Mum and Dad, lost for words. The whole Dixon family have sacrificed a lot to get 'lil Scottie Dixon' in that winner's circle and they have every right to share that win with him and the Target Ganassi team.
Let's also hear it for his financial backers back home who many years ago funded him into Formula Fords and gave his career the kick start it deserved. They are now doing the same thing for Brendon Hartley in Formula 3.
Rising talent
On the horizon Marc Williams, Jonny Reid, and the Cunningham boys certainly have the talent to follow Scott, you may have seen them on our show last week. Hopefully they will find the $ behind them too.
I'd like to thank Scott and the Dixons for putting up with us popping up in their faces with a microphone and camera. Not once did they tell us to wrack off even if they were thinking it. Thanks also to Indy Motor Speedway for making us feel so welcome.
Finally, thanks to you for watching the show and reading the blogs.
But what I really wanna' talk about right now is your colon&
