The small southern town of Gore is to get 200 new jobs with the news of a $90 million dairy plant, but there's a mixed reaction to the development.
Building should start later this year on the Mataura Valley Milk
Company plant in McNab, just north of Gore.
The district mayor's welcomed the extra jobs. But Federated Farmers
says too many companies competing in the market could lead to lower
prices and reduced returns.
Work is expected to start on the plant in October and be in production by August next year.
