Black Sticks captain misses MVP award

Black Sticks hockey captain Ryan Archibald has been pipped for the the Euro Hockey League's Most Valuable Player award.

The Euro Hockey League features 24 of Europe top clubs from 12 countries including Holland, Germany, Spain, Belgium and England.

Archibald was one of five players nominated for the award which has been won by Germany's Mortitz Fuerste.

Archibald plays for HC Rotterdam who progressed all the way to the semi-finals before being knocked out by fellow Dutch side HGC.

He is currently out of the New Zealand side with a shoulder injury.
