The accusations are flying at the Kahui trial with the defence opening its case.

An ex-boyfriend of Chris Kahui's partner Macsyna King has told a jury that King told him she murdered her boys.

Chris Kahui is accused of killing his two baby boys in 2006.

Eruera Tuari says he accidentely recorded a conversation on a cell phone while visiting the twins mother.

"Through our conversation after awhile ... she was freaking out and said Chris did it and I said .. did what .. and she said oh f**k this," says Tuari.

The witness and King were together for around two months.  He says at the time of the visit King was distressed.

"Out of it ... Angry I suppose," says Tuari.

The couple broke up after Tuari found out she was the mother of the murdered babies.

But he waited eight months before telling police about the confession after seeing Chris Kahui on television.

"I felt sorry for the bro ... I thought oh I must do something," says the witness.

The Crown argues that the conversation was made up.

Under cross examination Tuari admitted he has not always been an honest man. He claims the recording must have been deleted off the cellphone, but did happen.

"Yes it did ...as I say man I have nothing to lose," says Tuari.

The defence says the babies mother inflicted the fatal head injuries.

Chris Kahui's sister told the court in the weeks following the babies death, that King told her she would not let the accused take the rap.

"I'll go down for it," says Kahui's sister.

Sixteen witness will give evidence for the defence, but we will not hear from Chris Kahui.

His lawyer says he is a passive person who is loyal and does not feel comfortable pointing the finger of blame.
