There's concern a proposal by the Auckland District Health Board to give girls free access to the morning after contraceptive pill will encourage promiscuity.

The DHB is considering the move as way of reducing the number of unplanned teenage pregnancies.

But parents.org.nz spokesman Stephen Gore says it will remove the need for teenagers to act responsibly.

He say for many teens it will become the preferred choice to engage in sex when ever they want to and go and sort it out in the morning.

Gore says with the AIDS epidemic and other sexually transmitted diseases, there's a bigger issue than simply trying to reduce the teen pregnancy rate.
