The Anglican Church has reached a financial settlement with three women who were sexually abused by a former Canterbury priest.
The payments relate to the actions of the priest, Rob McCullough, when he worked in Christchurch over 25 years ago.
The Bishop of Christchurch, David Coles, says negotiations have been protracted and he is pleased the church and the women have reached a conclusion.
The church has also formally apologised to two other women who did not want financial compensation.
Meanwhile, the Auckland Diocese is still working through three claims relating to when McCullough was based there.
