Police in Hastings say a man is to be charged after assaulting two ambulance officers and causing damage to their vehicle.
Detective Kris Eckhold says the ambulance officers sustained minor injuries when they were kicked and punched after being called to a house to take a 38-year-old man to hospital.
She says the driver called for emergency help and a second ambulance crew and police with a dog unit responded.
The man was handcuffed and taken to hospital.
Terri Burling, an organiser for the National Distribution Union which represents the ambulance officers says the incident adds to its concerns over staff cuts announced just before Christmas.
