The New Zealand men's hockey team begins its international summer series on Thursday night.
The Black Sticks will play eight tests against Chile and Japan over the next fortnight, starting with the South Americans in Whangarei.
Striker Simon Child says their know little about the Chileans, saying they expect them to play a similar flamboyant style to Argentina who they played recently.
He says the Southern American counties play hockey in a similar style to the way they play their football.
The Blacks Sticks and Chile meet in Whangarei again on Saturday and Sunday, before moving to Pukekohe for the final test on Tuesday. Play begins at 6:30 on Thursday night.
