A publicity stunt of epic proportions was staged at Auckland Airport this morning.
A Boeing 777 and an A1GP racing car raced down the runway and tied in two races at Auckland Airport.
The face-off was staged to draw attention to the A1GP in Taupo later this month.
The Air New Zealand 777 won the first race, but A1GP driver Jonny Reid took out the rematch in his car Black Beauty.
Pilot of the 777 Captain Dave Morgan says it was a nice change from the usual morning warm-ups.
He says it was fantastic to support the race series.
Both driver and pilot say they would be keen to swap machines in a virtual rematch.
