A poll of Auckland ratepayers shows 78% of those surveyed support the new liquor ban in the central city.
The ban, which runs from Thursday nights to Sunday mornings, came into force in September.
It prohibits alcohol consumption in public places and is being extended to include parts of the Viaduct Harbour.
The survey was carried out by the Auckland City Council and questioned 113 randomly selected ratepayers.
8% of people oppose the ban, and 63% of people want it extended to other parts of the city.
