Passengers aboard the trouble-stricken Pacific Star are packing their bags and heading home.
P&O has cancelled the eight-night cruise out of Auckland.
The Pacific Star was battered by monster waves after it sailed into stormy weather last month and it has now been delayed by technical problems.
P&O was forced to cancel a cruise through the Pacific Islands after windows on the 26-year-old trouble-plagued cruise liner were smashed and the hull damaged in a severe storm less than four weeks ago.
The latest incident has meant a frustrating wait for more 1100 passengers who paid for an eight night cruise, dubbed the Tasman Tango.
Passenger Barry Keown, says they have all been offered their cash back as well as some accommodation and travel costs.
P&O Cruises Chief Executive Ann Sherry has apologised to
passengers for the cancellation.
"We realise this experience has been very frustrating for our
passengers and apologise unreservedly for the disappointment and
inconvenience we have caused them," Sherry says.
The ship's 1145 passengers will receive a full refund and a 25%
credit on a future cruise. The company will also waive all onboard
expenses incurred by passengers since their embarkation on
Tuesday.
