Corporal Willy Apiata is not someone who seeks the limelight, in fact he would rather be out on patrol than be interviewed. ONE News' Simon Dallow talks to the heroic and humble soldier.
The world of the 35-year-old SAS member was turned upside down
last week when he learnt he was being honoured with the highest
military award in the Commonwealth, the Victoria Cross.
He received the award for extreme bravery under fire in Afghanistan
in 2004 after he risked his life to rescue a colleague and then
rejoined the counter attack.
But Apiata says his actions were nothing other than what his mates would have done for him.
