He is regarded as the best match racer in world yachting, he has won the America's Cup twice, successfully defended it once, is an Olympic gold medalist and will be a part of the One Sport commentary team in Valencia.
Yes Russell Coutts, who left Alinghi following a major disagreement with Ernesto Bertarelli, has agreed to be an expert analyst, alongside Peter Montgomery, for two days of the America's Cup.
Another of the big names in world sailing, James Spithill has also joined the One Sport team. He will be with Montgomery on the days Coutts is unavailable.
One Sport will have an enviable lineup.
Hosted by John McBeth, who filled the same role when the Cup was won by Team New Zealand in 1995, defended in 2000 and lost in 2003 the extensive commentary lineup features some of the most famous names in yachting.
Peter Montgomery, who has been synonymous with sailing for over 30 years, will be on the America's Cup course and will be joined during the Match Race series by two of the best helmsmen of recent times:
*Russell Coutts - skippered Team New Zealand to victories in 1995 and 2000 and steered Alinghi to the Cup success of 2003.
*James Spithill - was at the helm for Luna Rossa in Valencia and is widely regarded as the next dominant skipper on the world scene.
As well as Coutts, Spithill and Montgomery, there will be comments provided by Tom Shnackenberg and Tom Whidden- both involved in previous successful America's Cup campaigns, Cameron Dunn, who was a part of the Mascalzone Latino afterguard, Peter Lester, who has sailed in three previous Cups and One News reporter Martin Tasker.
With all this knowledge to call on, plus the exceptional Virtual Eye enhancement, One News viewers will be well served.
The coverage of the 32nd America's Cup, which will be hosted by John McBeth, begins at 11.30 on Saturday night.
