A political partnership could be imminent between ousted Labour Party MP Taito Phillip Field and the Destiny Church.
Church leaders have confirmed they will attend a meeting with Field on Thursday night at Mangere's Southern Cross campus.
One News reporter Barbara Dreaver says it is highly significant that church leader Brian Tamaki and other key church members will be present at the meeting.
Analysts say Field offers the church political experience and the chance to possibly get into parliament while the church can offer Field voters.
At the last election the Destiny church gained 15,000 votes and Tamaki sees Mangere as being a real battle front at the next election.
No Christian-based party has ever got into parliament and Field could possibly be the church's vessel to gain a foothold.
Earlier this year Field was dealt a blow by the Labour Party after its Mangere electorate committee decided not to follow him as an independent and opted to back a new Labour candidate.
Field is under police investigation on corruption charges and was expelled from the Labour Party caucus. He is currently an independent.
