Beashel in danger of amputation
Apr 5, 2007

Team New Zealand crew member Adam Beashel could be in danger of losing a finger after an accident in Thursday morning's fleet races off Valencia.

Beashel got his hand trapped in the main sheet block at the start of race one in Act 13 and was taken to hospital.

Strategist Ray Davies was next to Beashel when the accident happened and says they are unsure of the extent of the injury.

But Davies says Beashel could lose the finger.

However Davies says plenty of sailors have lost a finger and Beashel is pretty tough.

Team New Zealand is second equal with Oracle heading to day three of the fleet races while Alighi leads the series.
