There is a call for a more coordinated approach to teen pregnancy, following the release of a report from the United Nations children's agency UNICEF.
The report shows New Zealand has the third highest teenage birthrate among 28 developed countries.
The executive director of the Family Planning Association, Gill Boddy-Greer, says a British strategy is already showing significant success by bringing together programmes in education, health, justice and housing.
Boddy-Greer says a specific team in the British Ministry of Health works on teenage pregnancy issues, and the strategy is monitored by a group of cabinet ministers.
She says in the first two years of the strategy, Britain has recorded drops of four percent and 2.4% in the teenage birth rate.
