Ricki Herbert wants around half of his players in the new Wellington A-League franchise to be New Zealanders.
Herbert is set to sign a three-year contract with the franchise after verbally agreeing to terms and has outlined his desire to have a large number of Kiwis in his squad.
After the Knights had only three Kiwis last season, Herbert says he would like to have 10 or 12 local players in the coming year.
Herbert says he will talk to around 15 of his national squad during their two-match tour of the Americas starting this week.
