The President of the Council of Trade Unions, Ross Wilson, has launched a strong attack on National's industrial relations policy.

In a speech on the final day of the Labour Party Congress in Wellington, he said National has reverted to failed policies, which created conflict and bitterness.

Wilson says National's industrial relations policy, which was released last month, is the 1990s Employments Contracts Act in disguise, and unions will fight the return of such law.

He says the Employment Relations Act, brought in by the current government, makes it possible for employers and unions to work in partnership to improve productivity and lift incomes. He says very clear policy differences are emerging between Labour and National in a range of areas.
