It's been a week since we arrived in Delhi, and it's now starting to feel a bit more familiar.

Sure, the heat still melts my industrial insect repellent, sending it dripping down my face and making my lips go numb.

Sure, even at its tamest, the driving here is life threatening, but so far none of us (touch wood) have been in a crash.

And sure, the curries are still rich and enticing, though we've learnt to stockpile at the buffet breakfast in lieu of lunch and dinner breaks.

Like many of the international broadcasters, the ONE News team is working out of the Commonwealth Games IBC (International Broadcast Centre).

It's a large and not-quite-finished warehouse, with allotted areas for the respective channels.

The offices are practical, but very much temporary and rather impersonal.

Security is tight - every time we enter we're scanned, x-rayed and body-checked, and though for some reason there's no food available here (thank you breakfast buffet), and the air conditioning's a little harsh, our little office at the far end of the IBC has become our home away from home.

A ONE News cameraman working in Delhi has taken to brightening the place up a bit.

The plain white stucco walls were a bit dull, and since it's all temporary - at least, I think it is! - he's been tagging the walls with a vivid. No, it's not terribly mature, but it does make things a bit more interesting.

Like a 17th-century French palace, we've commissioned a series of personal portraits. Peter's self-portrait is less than modest, but when he got to Andrew Saville's picture, the vivid started to run out.

Finally, down the back of the room, we run the ONE News medal table, keeping track of the medals New Zealand's won so far. At the moment, the pickings are slim. But there's plenty of time to go and plenty of medals still to be awarded.

We've a big day ahead, but for now the BBC's in the office next door and there might just be time for a quick game of corridor cricket.
