Ask any sport enthusiast and they will be able to rattle off several of their all time favourite cheating moments in sport.

In the heat of battle sometimes the willingness to win overtakes honesty and sportsmanship, cheating just seems to easy.

ONE Sport decided to reminisce on 10 of the most infamous incidents and here's what the team came up with.

Also, comment on our message board below.

10. Michael Atherton - cricket
Just what was the English captain thinking when he used dirt from his trouser pocket to rough up the ball during a 1994 Test against South Africa? Atherton claimed the dirt was to dry his fingers.

9. Tonya Harding - figure skating
In a shocking act of foul play, Harding's ex-husband and two other thugs attacked fellow competitor Nancy Kerrigan during the 1994 US Figure Skating Championships. Kerrigan was forced to withdraw from the event due to the injuries she suffered.

8. Andy Haden - rugby
We'd like to think the glorious All Blacks never had cheaters amongst their ranks. But the Welsh were outraged in 1978 when Haden cost them a Test match at Cardiff. With the score 12-10 in Wale's favor, Hayden 'dived', allowing the All Blacks to kick a penalty and win the match.

7. Rivaldo - football
The Brazillian midfielder raised the dishonest act of diving to a new level at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. During Brazil's match against Turkey, Rivaldo was struck in the leg, but suddenly clutched his face in agony. The referee sent off the 'offending' Turkish player.

6. Mike Tyson - boxing
In 1997's second bout against Evander Hollyfield, Tyson suddenly became hungry. During the third round Tyson took several nibbles on Hollyfields tasty looking ears. The match was stopped and Tyson disqualified.

5. Ben Johnson - athletics
Doping and sprinting almost go hand-in-hand. Johnson ran a blistering quick race to win gold at the 1988 Seoul - pity he was a filthy cheat. Johnson's urine sample contained the steroid Stanazolol and the Canadian was stripped of the gold.

4. Harlequins - rugby
The 2009 Heineken cup heralded the "Bloodgate" scandal into English rugby. Harlequins used a fake blood capsule to facilitate a tactical switch during a match against Leinster. The club's dirty washing was aired, and several administrators and a player received substantial bans.

3. Australia - cricket
Our old Aussie mates from across the ditch don't escape this unflattering countdown. Not many Kiwi cricket fans will easily forget 1981's underarm incident. Greg Chappell caused trans-Tasman relations to sour dramatically when he delivered an underarm delivery to prevent a New Zealand one-day win.

2. Renault - formula one
Many motorsport fans are still getting over the shock of Nelson Picquet Junior's deliberate crash at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix, allowing team mate Fernando Alonso the win. The episode caused shockwaves in the sporting world, and huge penalties for a disgraced Renault.

1. Maradona - football
Drum roll please. Coming in at number one on a list this man would rather not feature. Diego Maradona's shocking 'Hand of God' goal in the 1986 FIFA World Cup will live long in the memories of most. The English goal keeper, at 1.85m tall, couldn't beat Maradona's (1.65m) raised left fist. Maradona later said, "I was waiting for my teammates to embrace me, and no one came... I told them, 'Come hug me, or the referee isn't going to allow it.'"

Who are the world's worst cheaters in sport? Someone missed off the list? Let us know on our message board below:

An interesting piece of Trivia ONE sportsman was on both the recieving end and a prime party to the delivery of TWO of these events AND!!!! He was a Kiwi.. That is one Brian McKecknie (please excuse the spelling) He kicked the points when Andy Hadden Dived and faced the underarm ball from Trev Chappel. Brian you see was a dual international with the unfortunate position of being on either side of a very poor act of sportsmanship.

Diego Maradona hardly belongs in this list. He is either the greatest or second greatest player of all time. He is also 5ft5 and managed to outjump a 6ft2 keeper. And lastly, it was hardly an act that influenced the result. Argentina completely dominated! Get you facts right team.

What!? No C-Ron on this list!? Surely the sly 'wink' El Diver gave the Portugal bench after getting United team-mate Wayne Rooney sent off at the 2006 World Cup deserves a mention...!

Unfortunately although it was scandalous the underarm incident should not be on there. It was outside the spirit of the game but underarm bowling at the time was NOT against the rules of the game therefore technically was not cheating. (Yes I am a Kiwi).
