Cold Case:
Lilly Rush (Morris) is a smart, driven, enigmatic and highly
effective detective on the squad.
Rush's instinctive understanding of the criminal mind and her
singular passion for uncovering the truth makes her the perfect fit
for investigating these "cold cases" of crimes that have never been
solved.
She reopens dormant, unsolved murders that occurred months, years
or even decades ago.
Rush previously worked on current cases; now, this experienced
detective is intrigued by new challenges, such as interrogating
witnesses to old crimes whose lives and circumstances have since
changed, making use of today's new science and finding fresh clues
to cases once thought unsolvable.
She is prepared for certain consequences, namely that her work
will open old wounds and may lead suspects to commit new crimes.
Still, Rush makes it her business to ensure that no victim is ever
forgotten.
Joining Rush on her mission are a team of talented detectives:
Scotty Valens (Pino), Rush's confident and strong-willed partner;
Nick Vera (Ratchford), rough around the edges but a tough cop,
considered the go-to guy for getting a confession; Will Jeffries
(Barry), an experienced veteran who's been around the block and
serves as a link to the past; Kat Miller (Thoms), a streetwise,
no-nonsense and resourceful investigator; and Lieutenant John
Stillman (Finn), Rush's respected mentor and sometime father
figure. With their assistance, Rush is able to take on the toughest
cases, giving voice to victims unable to speak for
themselves.
As the series enters its seventh season, the team of tough Philly
cops continues to delve into heavy investigative work, allowing for
some humor and a few light-hearted moments. Plus, Rush reconnects
with narcotics cop Eddie Saccardo (recurring guest star Bobby
Cannavale - Will & Grace, Third Watch).
