Where on earth would we be today without a mobile phone? Yes, the mobile has transformed our lives but is it also taking them over?

The younger you are the harder it seems to live without them. The apparent addiction of teenagers to mobiles, the constant texting, the fear of being without your mobile now has a name: Nomophobia.

Close Up talks to the pyschologist who has studied this phenomenon and Jendy Harper puts it to the test with some of our own teen text queens.

Eleven minutes without a cell phone and we were seeing anxiousness, even anger. Is that typical? Mark Sainsbury puts the scenario to Sydney psychologist Michael Carr-Gregg who has dealt with many clients suffering from nomophobia.
