You could hardly call Neil Finn a publicity hound. His family may be New Zealand music royalty but the celebrity profile doesn't sit comfortably.

Strange then that he opened up his Piha home and studio to give film-makers free reign. But it was a very unusual opportunity. Famous musicians from around the world - from Radiohead to The Smiths and Wilco - all converging in Piha to make an album in just three weeks.

Dominic Bowden met with Neil Finn at the Santa Barbara Film Festival premiere of The Sun Came Out.
