Mt Tongariro erupted overnight for the first time in a hundred years.  Doctor Steve Sherburn a volcanologist geophysicist from GNS Science talk to Close Up as well as Jon Proctor,  a volcanologist at Massey University.

The government offers screening for new-born babies, helping to pick whether they're likely to have down syndrome.  But scientists say we'll soon be able to scan unborn babies for thousands of genetic defects. But does that in itself raise more ethical questions?
