The V8 hero and the Kiwi kid

It surges through the veins of thousands of New Zealanders - an addiction to the noise, the smell, the speed of a thundering V8.

And Palmerston North teenager, Josh Vertongen happily counts himself among the addicts.

Sadly though Josh is battling advanced abdominal cancer but taking his video camera to the racetrack has helped him cope with the rigors of chemotherapy and numerous stays in hospital.

He wanted us to see his motor racing "movie" so we took a look and arranged an extra special treat.

Michael Holland introduced Josh to one of his V8 heroes.
