The footage may well disturb, may well shock you.

It's dramatic footage shot by a community patrol group, Papatoetoe Reclaiming Our Streets, while they try and force prostitutes and their clients from the streets of Hunters Corner Papatoetoe in South Auckland.

You will see some violent clashes, some taunting, some pretty strong arm tactics.

Are these people, a group of well intentioned citizens or are they vigilantes the police need to pay close attention to?

The group which includes some community leaders is also outing clients, taking their registration numbers and sending letters home.

Paul Henry is joined for debate on the issue with:

  • Stephen Grey, Papatoetoe Community Board chairman and head of Papatoetoe Reclaiming Our Streets
  • Charlie Borell, who filmed the footage and also a member of Papatoetoe Reclaiming Our Streets
  • Annah Pickering, Auckland Coordinator Prostitutes' Collective
  • and Inspector Bruce Bird, Area Commander from Otahuhu Police Station.
